Auto accident kills 1, injures another in Connecticut

Striking a large object, such as a tree, while riding in a vehicle can lead to serious injuries, especially if the automobile is moving at a high rate of speed. The passenger who is injured in this type of collision may feel shaken up and even angry, particularly if the auto accident happened for a senseless reason, such as the driver was driving recklessly and/or speeding. In this type of situation, financial damages awarded in a personal injury claim can help to ease pain and suffering as well as pay for associated medical costs in Connecticut.

In one recent case in Connecticut, a collision happened when a 19-year-old man was driving a car. He went to the left and crossed the yellow lines. The vehicle ended up in the lanes heading north, according to authorities.

At that time, the man struck a tree. The 19-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the car's passenger, a 20-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. Police continued to investigate the accident.

Serious injuries or death is the likely result of a collision between a motor vehicle and a fixed object, often due to the force of the impact. Someone who suffers injuries in an auto accident reserves the right to file a personal injury suit against any party who is deemed to have negligently caused the wreck. Even if the ostensibly negligent driver dies in the accident, the injured party may still file a claim against the driver's estate and any separate owner of the automobile. Failure to maintain one's lane may be considered negligent driving, and evidence of this might be used to establish liability in a civil proceeding in Connecticut.
