Airbags are safety devices that deploy in the event of a crash to keep people safer. They rapidly inflate to prevent people from striking the steering column, dashboard or even the doors and windows of the vehicle, possibly lessening the injuries suffered by occupants of a vehicle during a collision.
Airbags can save lives, but they can also cause major safety concerns with some vehicles. Over the last decade, there have been multiple recalls initiated by various vehicle manufacturers because of issues with airbags. Now, one of the biggest manufacturers in the country will have to recall more than 400,000 vehicles because of airbag issues.
Recall affects over 400,000 pickup trucks

Few things are as unexpected as the side airbag in your vehicle spontaneously exploding. That is what General Motors (GM) worries could happen in more than 400,000 pickup trucks currently on the roads. There have been at least three such incidents in the last month, all involving Chevy Silverados. No one was injured in any of those incidents because the vehicles were all unoccupied when the airbags exploded.
Those driving 2015 or 2016 Chevrolet and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks will likely hear from the dealership where they purchased their vehicle to arrange for the installment of replacement airbags. Identifying defective products can help you stand up for yourself if you get hurt because a manufacturer didn’t catch an issue before it shipped products out to consumers.
