Head-on car accidents: teen passenger killed in New Haven County

A head-on collision is one of the most catastrophic types of car accidents because it can cause incapacitating injuries or even death. When people are injured or killed in Connecticut car accidents, their families experience heartache and loss. Especially if their loved ones died or were seriously injured through no fault of their own, family members are typically angry as well as grief-stricken. Although filing a wrongful death suit or personal injury claim does not ease the pain and suffering that car accidents cause, prevailing in such a claim can provide financial relief and help the victims' families to move on.

The families of several individuals are experiencing this situation firsthand. One teenager was killed in a head-on collision when a man was driving his car south in Hamden and crossed the road's center line. This man ended up striking a car that was going north.

Authorities say that the passenger in the car that crossed the center of the roadway died in the accident. Meanwhile, the drivers of both cars suffered injuries. They were transported to the hospital.

The injured man whose car was struck can seek financial compensation in a personal injury claim, which can cover expenses such as medical costs or even the loss of income. In addition, the family of the deceased individual can pursue compensation in a wrongful death suit, which can cover end-of-life and funeral expenses. If authorities can prove that the driver who caused the head-on collision acted negligently or recklessly when he crossed the center line, this can be used as evidence in favor of the victim's family in a Connecticut lawsuit. Claims for financial damages stemming from car accidents will be adjudicated if a civil court finds the driver liable for the fatality.
